Gas & Wood Burning Stove Installations
Open fires and log burning stoves installed. All work is commissioned and signed off with HETAS.
Inset and outset gas fires supplied and/or installed, as well as for cast iron inserts, hole-in-wall fires and gas stoves. All installs are commissioned and signed off with the GasSafe Register.
Should there be no gas supply at the chimney breast, we can pick up the supply at the meter or nearest point and run it to the required position. This is normally done under the floor, but can also be done behind skirtings, channelled into plaster, surface run or channelled into concrete floors.
All rooms with gas appliances of 7 kilowatt input and above must have purpose provided ventilation of a minimum 100 square cm – equivalent to a circle 5”/125mm diameter. All rooms with an open fire or log burning stove above 5 kilowatt input must also have purpose provided ventilation of a minimum 100 square cm. Floor vents are only possible through wooden floors.
Chimney Lining / Chimney Repairs
If your chimney flue is leaking and fails a smoke or integrity test, to rectify the problem, we supply and install appropriate 316 grade stainless steel chimney liners for both gas and solid fuel purposes. 904 grade is predominantly for coal burning.
Should you have no chimneys or chimney breasts, we supply and install both internal and external twin wall insulated chimney systems.
Should you be worried your chimney may be leaking and therefore, carbon monoxide is escaping into rooms above or into your neighbour's property, we carry out a full integrity test on your chimney to assess its fitness for purpose.
If your chimney breast has been removed and you need one for your new fireplace, no problem - we can build a new chimney breast, plastered to a finish and with a beautiful traditional brick chamber.
If the fireplace opening has been blocked up, we'll opening it all up again and put nice beaded sharp corners to the sides and top. Should the internal brickwork of the fireplace chamber be in poor condition, we can render over it.
Constructional hearths are the rectangular concrete area, normally about 125mm thick, to the front of all chimney breasts. They inhibit the heat exchange between the fire and the wooden floors and joists. Particularly in the case of open fires, if removed, the constructional hearth must be reinstated.
